Narrating the Battle of Stalingrad in 3D

Narrating the Battle of Stalingrad in 3D
Jason Leci

It’s been ages since I have seen a good war movie. Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln made for a good watch, but it was more of a biography. The last good war movie that I had seen was Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds in 2009, but the genre has been somewhat dormant since then. Now, however, it would seem I won’t need to wait for long for the next good one. Russian filmmaker Fedor Bondarchuk is bringing an adaptation of the bloody war of Stalingrad during WWII to the big screen this year.

To be distributed and released in Russia by Sony Pictures Releasing International, this war movie is the first Russian feature to be produced completely with 3D technology — which means it will be available for viewing in super-immersive IMAX 3D. Now I am not really keen on watching 3D movies, but a historic tale of valor and warfare is just too much of a lip-smacking prospect to ignore.

Just hoping that this movie turns out to be as epic as the trailer hypes it up to be!
