Sony announces 55" and 65" 4K TVs
Seems like LG isn’t the only one serious about 4K Ultra HD displays as Sony announces the cost and availability of its 55” and 65” 4K TVs. If this year’s CES was anything to go by then manufacturers have made it pretty clear that the next phase of home entertainment is 4K resolution.
However, the stumbling block for Sony must have been to find a plethora of buyers who are convinced to shell out 25 grand on a relatively new technology with its 84” 4K TV. Compared to that, the announced price figures of 4999$ and 6999$ for the 55” and 65” variants sounds like a steal all day long! Not only does it make going for a 4K TV more appealing but it also puts the whole 4K propaganda into real motion. The two models, 55XBR900A and 65XBR900A will be available for order from April 21st.
And just to reiterate its belief in the 4K cause, Sony has also announced details of its 4K Media Player FMP X1 at a cost of 699$ which will come preloaded with 10 digitally re-mastered 4K titles and a “payment based” 4K media plan once it becomes available for purchase from Autumn onwards this year.
